Islamabad police have extended the deadline for citizens to get a driving license for a week, and transferred it from October 1 to October 7.

The decision was made on special instructions to provide additional facilities to the people of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

According to the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), on October 18, a strict crackdown on motorcycles and motorcycle riders will begin a strict crackdown on driving without any license. The culprits will face legal proceedings, including the arrest and inability of the vehicle.

Authorities have also made it clear that those who are caught driving without a license will not be able to obtain a character certificate until they get any.

Officials said the new measures are aimed at ensuring road safety, improving traffic laws, and discouraging unlicensed driving in the capital.

The ITP has already increased services in facility centers, including long operating times and mobile units to handle the increasing demand for licenses. Citizens have been urged to apply for a license before the extended deadline to avoid fines.
