The Department of Excise and Taxation Department has announced that all vehicles registered in Islamabad face the cancellation of registration with taxes without compensation, if the liabilities are not cleared by October 10.
According to officials, safe notices have been issued to the owners whose tax payment is pending. Their registrations have already been suspended, and if they have failed to clear the dues of the October deadline, the registration will be canceled.
The department said that the rehabilitation would be possible only when the owners pay the heavy fines as well as the outing. Special counters have been set up to help taxpayers clear their dues.
The operation is being carried out under the Vehicle Ordinance 1965, and the authorities have made it clear that no discount will be given after the deadline.
In addition, Islamabad Traffic Police has announced severe implementation of the license rules from October 8. Without the correct license, drivers will face arrest, registration of cases and inadequacy of the vehicle. This order applies equally to both public and private drivers.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Nasir Rizvi has directed the officers to ensure full implementation of the crackdown, and warn that the driver and his vehicle without a license will be detained at both police stations.
