Lahore is ready to expand its eco -friendly public transport system, as 35 additional electric buses are expected in the city next month.
According to a official spokesman, new buses will run along the Canal Road Corridor, which will cover the way from Thokar Niaz Baig to Jail Moor. Buses are about to arrive in the coming week, formal operations are likely to begin in the first week of October.
An event will also be held for the launch of the expanded service on the new route.
Currently, there are already 27 electric buses operating in Lahore, which is working between Green Town and Railway Station. It is expected that the increase of the new fleet will significantly improve public transportation, reduce traffic crowds, and provide citizens a clean, more sustainable alternative to the traditional vehicle.
With the inclusion of these 35 buses, Lahore’s electricity fleet will cross 60 vehicles, which is one of the largest electric transport operations in Pakistan.
