Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the electro bus service for the first time in Faisalabad on Monday, indicating that officials described the city as a milestone in the public transport system.
According to the Punjab Transport Department, Faisalabad will get a total of 150 electro buses, in which 30 buses start in the first phase. These buses will initially run on two major routes: 22 km track from Yusuf Town to Siegel City and 18km to reform the university cycle.
Officials said more than 24,000 passengers are expected to be replaced daily in the new service, which offers an innovative and environmentally friendly alternative to old, polling transport options.
Electro buses are equipped with Wi -Fi, mobile charging ports, CCTV cameras and facilities such as compartments for women. Special seating has also been arranged for senior citizens and various dynamic passengers. Rent has been fixed at Rs 20 to keep the service cheap for the general public.
In order to ensure uninterrupted operations, charging stations across the city have already been set up. Authorities added that the project reflects the government’s extensive efforts to modernize urban movement by reducing environmental pollution.
With the launch of the electro bus service, Faisalabad has joined the list of Pakistani cities in a sustainable transport solution.
