Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced the launch of electric bikes for women working on easy installments, along with the expansion of the province’s electric bus fleet.

Presiding over a high level meeting in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Bugti said the move was aimed at empowering women by promoting their economic freedom and tackling their transport challenges. “We want women to rely and actively contribute to the social and economic sectors,” he said.

According to officials, the scheme will enable women to get electric bikes through easy payment options, which will reduce dependence on unsafe or incredible transport.

At the same time, the government has finalized the acquisition of new buses under the Green Bus Scheme. It is expected that the fleet will arrive in Karachi Port by mid -October and will be deployed to major Balochistan centers. A pink bus service, which is exclusively dedicated to female passengers, will also be launched to provide safe and affordable travel.

CM Bugti instructed the authorities to ensure that both projects – electric bikes and green buses for women – are completed by October, and call them “key steps to improve urban movement and tackle the daily problems of citizens.”

Officials said these measures market a major step towards environmentally friendly transport, while in Balochistan, they develop safe and more comprehensive powers for travelers.
