Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered 15 out of 24 public -owned businesses (SOE), customized red tape and accelerated privatization of delays.
He also directed the recruitment of world -class experts to help in this process.
At a review meeting, a letter was written to the Prime Minister on the progress of the privatization of the SOE. Officials said that many inactive and harmful companies that burden the national quote will be preferred to distribute.
He emphasized that national interest and future institutional capacity will have to guide this process. He also emphasized that delays, neighbors and internal holdups will not be tolerated.
The Prime Minister made it mandatory that the privatization move was strictly in accordance with the PPRA rules and would personally oversee the progress through regular sessions.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Sima, Energy Minister Avysi Legree, State Finance Minister Bilal Kayani, and other senior officials.
Earlier, the federal government had unveiled the five -year -old Privatization Roadmap, targeting 24 major sizes for privatization in 2029.
