All routes leading to the Lahore Islamabad Carway have been sealed as part of security measures before a rally organized by a religious political party.
The unrest began late last night in Punjab when police raided the party’s headquarters to arrest his leader.
The operation gave rise to violent clashes between security personnel and party supporters, who allegedly attacked the police with stones and iron bars. At least three policemen were injured in the confrontation.
In response, law enforcement agencies used tear gas to disperse the crowd, and turned the area into a dispute area.
The party had earlier announced plans to protest outside the US Embassy in Islamabad on Friday to protest against Israel.
