The annual matriculation (10th Class) examinations in Pakistan will officially begin on March 4th, 2025, starting with the papers of Arabic and History, and will conclude on March 24th, 2025, with the Punjabi paper. Students across all educational boards including Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, and AJK should start preparing accordingly.
What is SSC (Secondary School Certificate)?
SSC stands for Secondary School Certificate in Pakistan and is a crucial part of the matriculation system. Students who successfully complete 9th class become eligible to advance to 10th class under the same subject stream they selected earlier. It is important to note that subject changes are not allowed once you’ve chosen them in 9th class.

Updated Punjab Board Policies for 2025
Marks Improvement Opportunity
The Punjab Board now allows students to attempt the 10th class exam up to four times for the purpose of improving their marks. This gives students more flexibility and a fair chance to perform better.
New Passing Criteria
From 2025 onwards, the passing percentage has been raised to 40%. Students must now score at least 40% in each subject to be considered passed (previously it was 33%).

Roll Number Slips: Will be available on the official portals of respective Punjab boards. Students are advised to regularly check their board’s website and download their slips as soon as they’re released.

10th Class Result 2025 – Expected Announcement
Results for all Punjab Boards are typically released 2 to 3 months after the final exam. For 2025, the expected result date is July 2025. Students can check their results through:

New Subject Alert: Tarjamah Quran Majeed
The Punjab Curriculum & Textbook Board (PCTB) has introduced a new compulsory subject for 10th class titled “Tarjamah Quran Majeed”. This subject is now part of the matric curriculum and can be purchased from approved third-party publishers. Check with your board (e.g. Gujranwala, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, etc.) for approved versions of the book.
Age Criteria for 10th Class (Punjab)
For the academic session 2025, students in Punjab must typically be 13 to 15 years old to be enrolled in 10th class. This age requirement ensures students are both mentally and emotionally prepared for SSC Part 2.

Matriculation (SSC Part 2) is the foundation of your academic and professional future. Tip: After the pandemic, smart syllabi have been issued by boards like Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and AJK. However, Balochistan Board has not released any official smart syllabus.
