Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government is preparing to resolve the power buses in six districts as part of a change across the province towards eco -friendly public transport.

Districts included in the first phase

According to Punjab Transport Company, the following six districts will be covered in the first phase of electric bus move:

  • Mianwali
  • Sargodha
  • Muzaffargarh
  • Minister for Abad
  • Faisalabad
  • Holypton

The selection of these districts is based on population density, current public transport requirements and air quality concerns.

Sargodha will lead with 48 electric buses

In six districts, Sargodha will receive the largest allocated amount, of which 48 electric buses have been nominated for use across the district. Each tehsil inside Sargodha will operate about 8 to 8 to 9 buses, which will ensure widespread coverage and access to residents in both the urban and semi -turbine areas.

Officials said that operations are expected to begin in Sargodha, final route testing and infrastructure preparations are pending. The alleged charging stations and rehabilitation depots are done under development to support uninterrupted operations.

A step towards sustainable public transport

The move is a fundamental component of the government’s broader “electro” green mobility program, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce fuel deficiency and improve urban air quality. Introducing electricity buses with global climate targets is seen as a long -term solution to modernize the old public transport fleet of Punjab.

Each bus offer is expected:

  • Emission of zero telpipe
  • Low operational costs
  • Improves Passengers
  • Decrease in noise pollution

Infrastructure and extends to the future

To support the launch, Punjab Transport Company is working on charging charging infrastructure, root digitalization system, and trained personnel for EV operations.

If successful, the move could extend the additional districts of Punjab, which will create a vast electric public transit system. This will include major cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Gujranwala.

Officials also indicated possible integration along the feeder routes, ensuring that passengers could connect the local routes to the center of the larger city without switching to several transport fashions.
