In August 2025, Pakistan produced 14,218 GHwat or electricity, which is slightly higher than 8 % annually in August 2024, from 13,180 GW, which points to a minor choice in demand and economic activity.
Production was 1 % more month than 14,123 GHwat in July.
Overall, the generation reached 28,341 GW in the first two months of the financial year 26, which is an increase of 1 % from 28.060 GW in the same period last year. Analysts attributed the August elevator to a meaningful jump in hot weather and coal -based dispatch, which helped absorb demand.
While the volume improved, the average cost of the generation increased by 3 % year by year. 7.7/KW in August (from Rs 7.5/kW a year ago). At a monthly base, the cost was less than Rs 1 %. 7.8/kW in July
With the strengthening of the seasonal influx, hydropower led this compound, assisted 38.8 % in the total generation in August. RLNG followed 15.3 %, which is easily ahead of nuclear at 15.1 %.
In renewable sources, air and solar energy was supplied to 3.6 % and 0.7 %, respectively, which identified a limited role of variable green sources in the stack as a whole.
