The Punjab government has increased the use of driving simulators across the province as part of efforts to modernize driver’s training and improve road safety.
According to Punjab Digger Traffic, Mohammad Waqq Nazir, now in the current month, simulators have been installed in driving schools in 20 districts, which has increased a total of 28 districts where modern goods are operating.
Last month, only eight districts had access to the simulator. He added that by the end of this month, the remaining 10 districts will also be equipped with driving schools.
In the first phase, simulators were installed in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad. Later, the program was extended to other districts, including Gujranwala, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, and Gujarat.
The DIG said that the move has been launched under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for “safe and modern Punjab”, which is aimed at transferring traditional training methods and introducing modern tools to prepare confident and skilled drivers.
Training is done in two stages: After the initial exercise on the simulators, followed by road sessions. Officials said that this method helps students gain confidence behind the wheel and ensures safe methods of driving once they start using public roads.
