Sindh Senior Minister of Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Anim Memon announced on Tuesday that “pink scooters” this week, women will be distributed free of charge in Karachi to support their travel needs.
Talking to the media during his visit to review the yellow line BRT development works, the minister said that the depot and its related activities were under construction, while Senator Taj Haider Bridge was in its final stages and it is expected that it will be completed within a week.
He said the government was working on several transportation projects in the city with the support of the World Bank. Along with the distribution of pink scooters, in the coming weeks, a double -decker and a fleet of electric buses arrived in Karachi.
Sharjeel Anim Memon added that during President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent visit to China, the meetings were the heroes about the establishment of bus manufacturing plants in Sindh. He said such measures would improve transportation facilities and create employment opportunities.
The minister also said that obstacles like the transfer of utility have delayed some projects, but efforts are underway to resolve them soon.
