The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has directed the drivers of electric buses in Islamabad not to exceed 40 km per hour in the areas of the sector and 45 km per hour on the highways.

Officials said the consultation was issued after complaints of winging, which led to at least three non -fatal accidents on different routes. The CDAS Planning Wing emphasized that additional caution is necessary because many electric buses are still new to the city and request handling to avoid accidents.

These buses are operated by the National Radio Telecommunications Corporation (NRTC), which received 170 electric buses last year. Currently, due to the limited charge capacity, only 120 routes are running on the routes.

Officials are expected to once upgrade the depot, including the installation of new charging panels, later this month, all 170 buses will be on the streets.

The CDA estimates that currently around 60,000 passengers travel daily by electric bus, these figures can increase to 100,000 when a full fly is running once.
