Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Anim Memon said on Wednesday that the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project could take two more years to end.
Addressing the Morning Show Bakshbar Sovo of Eri News, he assured that many of the problems facing the citizens would be resolved within the next four to six months. He added that traffic and construction issues along the University Road are expected to be settled by early next year.
Memon emphasized that the provincial government is determined to accelerate the project, but it noted that technical obstacles, such as changing gas, water and selective lines from the designated route, are causing delays.
“The government is not responsible for the embarrassment caused by these delays,” he said. We are actively working and directed the Karachi Commissioner to monitor the project daily. “
The minister criticized the former caretaker administration for neglecting the project during his tenure, adding that after signing the Red Line agreement, increasing material costs have made more complicated progress.
Memon offered an apology to the residents of Karachi for inconvenience. He concluded, “We understand frustration and are solving daily problems. The Sindh government aims to complete the Red Line BRT as soon as possible.”
