Officials said Monday that a fleet of 30 electric buses had arrived in Faisalabad and will soon start work on seven nominated routes across the city.

According to the district administration, three bus depots are being prepared in Ghulam Mohammad Abad, Sargodha Road, and Gatwala Road to support the service. It is expected that the project will be inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Noz in the coming days.

Officials said the purpose of this service is to reduce the city’s growing traffic burden and provide cheap and reliable transport to passengers. He noted that the introduction of e -buses will also help reduce dependence on foam fuel and reduce urban air pollution levels.

The new system is part of the provincial government’s wider green move, which has already launched power transportation projects in other cities. Students and elderly residents will especially benefit from this service due to their low fares and improved access, officials said.

With Faisalabad facing a permanent crowd and damaged air quality, local officials hope that the Electric Bus Project will provide a more sustainable alternative to existing transport options. A formal launch is expected this weekend.
