The Punjab government has announced the launch of the e -taxi scheme for the first time in the province, which aims to prove environmentally friendly and cheap transport to the people under its transport vision 2030.
According to the details, 1,100 electric taxis will be distributed in the first phase of the scheme. Interested applicants can submit their form online e-taxi.punjab.gov.pk By October 5, 2025.
The move will help reduce air pollution, reduce fuel costs and provide modern travel facilities to citizens, officials said. It is expected that this scheme will also create new employment opportunities and improve urban movement throughout Punjab.
It is noteworthy that the provincial government has recently finalized financial support arrangements for the electric vehicle. Last month, the Chief Minister approved a scheme under which the co -banks will provide up to Rs. 6.5 million for the power vehicle.
Under the plan, the buyers will pay the subsidy while the government will cover interest costs on the loan. For EV which cost RS. 4 million and Rs 10 million, the Punjab government will contribute to the rupee. 585,000, the remaining partners will provide financial support through banks.
