The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved the construction of a new parking plaza near Centaurus Mall in the Blue Area to tackle the city’s deteriorating parking challenges. The move came when Islamabad’s first war parking plaza, also located in the Blue Area, faces delay despite being completed in March 2023.
Construction of the Blue Area Plaza began in March 2022 and has been completed since its gray structure. However, the facility has yet to be operational, with paints, floors and finishing work still. CDA officials said the lifts have already been installed and the plaza is expected to work next month.
Recognizing the growing parking crisis in commercial and densely populated areas, the CDA board recently cleared another plaza projects near Centaurus Mall. Officials said that the urban company is also preparing parking sites near the crowded educational institutions to reduce the traffic crowd.
The Centaurus Project is part of a large project of six parking plazas in Islamabad. Other proposed sites include I-8 Marcas, G-9 Markaz, F-8, and F-10.
Officials noted that the abandoned trade plots in various markets could also be re -prepared to provide box -off the box parking solution, which is urgently needed to deal with the chronic space of the capital.
