There was a high -level meeting in Islamabad to review the progress on the launch of a modern and fast train service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The meeting was chaired by Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa after the direction of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Federal Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The meeting, held at the CDA headquarters, focused on finalizing the draft of the Memorandum of Understanding (sleeve) between the CDA and the Pakistan Railways. Senior officials of the two entities participated in a detailed discussion on the contract, which will be formally signed soon. The project aims to set up the latest train service to effectively connect the twin cities.
During the debates, participants reviewed the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies for the proposed route, layout plan, business model, and train project. The move is expected to be an important step in modernizing the federal capital region’s transport infrastructure.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the project would significantly reduce traffic crowds in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He added that the train service will be linked to feeder electric bus services to ensure easy access to citizens to important places within Islamabad. The chairman emphasized that the project would provide residents with safe, affordable and comfortable travel options.
Mohammad Ali Randhawa added that the train service would be an important gift for the people of the twin cities. He emphasized that international standards and best procedures will guide the implementation of the project, ensuring that it provides modern transport facilities. He added that in addition to improving the movement, the project will also help in the overall development and modernization of Islamabad.
