Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the electro bus service for the first time in Dera Ghazi Khan on Thursday, calling it a historic milestone in replacing public transport in southern Punjab.

Under the first phase, 101 electro buses are being allocated for the Dera Ghazi Khan Division, now 24 buses are operating on several routes in the city. These include a loop service through the General Bus Stand, Kot Chata, Pequat Zarin, Sakhi Sarwar, Shah Dan Sadar, and DG Khan City.

Each fully watcinumer bus is adorned with Wi -Fi, charging ports, CCTV cameras, and separate parts for women. The move aims to provide safe, cheap and modern travel options for citizens, including students and disabled people.

Maryam Nawaz personally traveled on one of the new buses, where citizens welcomed her with flowers and banners. The Chief Minister said that billions will be spent on southern Punjab to ensure development without political discrimination. It also promised full compensation for families affected by the recent floods, and refused to rely on foreign aid.
