Authorities in Karachi and Punjab have issued public warnings when reports of fake e -chelan messages demanding immediate payment of traffic penalties to the citizens have come out.

According to the Karachi Traffic Police, scammers have launched fake SMS messages of mission, which are incorrectly linked to mobile payment services such as Ezaypesa. Police made it clear that these messages are “fake, misleading and fraudulent” and that they have nothing to do with traffic police or any government organization.

Citizens have been appealed not to share personal information or pay through unverified links and numbers. For help, people can call Karachi Traffic Police Helpline in 1915.

In Punjab, the Safe City Authority has also raised the alarm on fake challan messages. Officials have confirmed that the real e -Chilan SMS has been sent from only 8070 numbers and never request bank account details.

Any SMS received from other numbers besides 8070 should be considered fake. Citizens are advised to confirm their challan by checking only on the left or via Punjab.

Both Karachi and Punjab officials called for stern action against the fraudsters and urged the citizens to care for cautious rain. The public has been reminded that all the official details of the challan are accessible only through the designated government platforms.
