After working on the 10th Avenue in Islamabad, the federal government has decreased sharply after the scheme stopped funding for the scheme, while the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has not yet made alternative financial arrangements.
The project was started in 2022 under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), which is estimated to cost Rs. It was expected that 10.2 billion would be completed by March 2024. However, only 48 % of the work has been done so far. The government has released approximately Rs. 4 billion.
According to officials, Earthwork has been completed from IJP Road to H-9 and two bridges are already being used, but many incomplete structures are deteriorating due to delays. Residents of the nearby fields have expressed disappointment over the long wait, saying that the road is a part of Islamabad’s master plan and is essential to reduce the crowd.
The 10th Avenue Project was excluded from the federal budget of 2025-26, with expectations that the CDA will use its resources. However, there has been little progress on this front.
A CDA spokesperson said efforts were being made to maintain quality construction, but it was estimated that timely release of funds was very important to complete the project.
