The Punjab government will launch 80 electric buses in Rawalpindi by mid -October, which will introduce a new public transport system, which aims to reduce pollution and reduce the urban crowd.
Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Caema confirmed that the buses will work on 10 new nominated routes covering 86 km. The system will be linked to the Islamabad Transport Network, which will allow residents of the twin cities to easily travel.
A new bus depot is being constructed on 28 kanal land along with Peshawar Road, which has a capacity of 100 buses. The move is a part of Punjab’s annual development programs 2025-26, which includes the construction of a urban bus depot with coalition infrastructure.
