The Punjab government has launched a massive crackdown on the vehicle, which eliminates excessive smoke and aid in environmental pollution. The move comes when authorities intensify efforts to stop the growing level of smog throughout the province.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) or Traffic Poly Punjab, Mohammad Waqas Nasir have directed all Chief Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Traffic Officers (DTOs) to take drastic measures. He directed that the disqualified vehicle should be prevented from entering the highways and it should be made clear that the owners of such vehicles will not receive any privileges.
As part of the campaign, the traffic police have been ordered to fully inspect the vehicle’s route permit and fitness certificate. In addition, action will also be taken against trucks and carriers that are carrying mud or sand without the Taroline Core, as the curtains play a significant role in the pollution of the dust.
DIG Nazir revealed that the number of vehicles participating in the smog this year has increased by 240 %, which is urgently needed to crackdown. He emphasized that reducing environmental risks and dealing with vehicle emissions to protect public health is an important step.
