Punjab Excise, Tax and Narcotics Control Department has issued a new notification in which the rules of Punjab Motor Vehicles have been announced in 1969. The latest rules introduce strict fines for individuals who fail to report the ownership of vehicles in specific timeframes.

This amendment applies to the rules of Punjab motor vehicle rules 47 (3). Under the revised law, if a transfer does not report a change in ownership within the stipulated period, they will need to pay a growing penalty in addition to the standard transfer fee.
The penalties are classified by vehicle type and delay period:
For motorcycles and scooters
- 31-60 Days late: RS. 1,000
- 61-90 Days late: RS. 2,000
- 91-120 Days late: RS. 4,000
For all other vehicles (cars, jeeps etc.)
- 31-60 Days late: RS. 10,000
- 61-90 Days late: RS. 20,000
- 91-120 Days late: RS. 30,000
According to officials, the review is designed to ensure timely reporting of ownership transfer, thus maintaining accurate records of vehicles and reducing fake methods. The government also emphasized that failure to comply with more than 120 days could lead to additional legal complications.
