Pakistan’s Power Regulator has fined K -electric rupees. Referring to internal failures of utility and insufficient response, 25 million for operational laps during blackout massive nationwide nationwide in January 2023.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a fine on Thursday when a detailed investigation received specifications from K -FLCREC about the “unacceptable and unacceptable” closure. NEPRA said the company has failed to justify internal defects in its system and that it cannot transfer the full responsibility to the national grid.
Investigations revealed that K -Electric’s black start capacity, an important system, aimed at resuming power output independently after total blackout, failed at a significant moment. The NEPRA report highlighted the technical flaws that were not resolved in the K Black Start and restored the tripping during the closure, which exposed the weaknesses in the efficacy procedure.
K -Electric has been ordered to submit a fine within 15 days.
On January 23, 2023, Blackout was the worst of Pakistan, which left millions of people without electricity and removed business, everyday life and essential services across the country.
In response to the decision, the Electric spokesperson said, “It is surprising to impose a fine on the selector for electricity disorders due to interruption of the NTDC system in January 2023.” The company added that it is reviewing NEPRA’s detailed decision and will determine its next steps.
