The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Aires Portal has been inaccessible to most parts of Monday, with taxpayers and tax practitioners unable to submit income tax declarations for tax year 2025 nationwide. To extend the return filing deadline.
The Lahore Tax Bar Association (LTBA) raised the alarm in a letter to the Finance Minister, highlighting that the Irsus portal was inactive throughout the day. The LTBA said, “Tax practitioners and taxpayers were unable to submit income tax deductions due to closure,” the LTBA warned that the situation could lead to widespread non -compliance with a taxpayer error.
In addition to disappointment, the LTBA pointed out that the “payment details” tab have been removed from the IRIS Portal’s management information system (MIS) section. The association said, “It is illegal, unfair and blasphemous. It is a new obstacle created by the FBR, which makes taxpayers difficult to meet their bonds,” the association called for the FBR to immediately increase the deadline of the filing.
In other cities, tax professionals also reported similar problems. A prominent tax adviser described the system as “painful slowly”, which only a handful of profits were successfully filed. “The biggest problem is to remove the payment tab from the Miss section. It briefly appeared on the FBR Melomet Portal, only being removed, which led to the confusion.”
Meanwhile, the Professional Accountants Forum (PAFO) has formally requested the Finance Minister to give a general extension. In a letter, PAFO President Mohammad Iqbal reminded the government that under Section 118 of the Income Tax Ordinance, from July 1, 2024 to 30 June 2025, the fiscal year and individual associations and companies with the year 1 and 31 December, 2024, the need to file their tax year 2025, 2025.
The PAFO, which represents a wide field of financial professionals, including a Chartered Accountant, Cost and Administrative Accountant, MBA, and other business experts, urged the Finance Minister to instruct the FBR to issue a circular on September 29 or 30, which on October 31, 2025.
