The federal government racked. During the first quarter of the ongoing financial year 2025-26, 8.6 billion for the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MOITT) under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).

The funds released represent about 28 28 % of the total rupee. 31 billion has been approved for the PSDP projects of the IT Ministry for the current financial year. Officials confirmed that this amount was already used in various development measures.

According to the IT Ministry’s written response to the National Assembly Standing Committee, the total rupees. 15 billion have been allocated for Karachi IT Park, while another rupee has been increased to 7 billion for Islamabad IT Park. Both projects are being financed through the Korean Bank’s soft loan.

The committee was further informed that more than 80 % of the construction work has been completed in Islamabad IT Park, and its facility is expected to be in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directive by the end of September this year.

Officials highlighted that Islamabad IT Park will serve as an important center for innovation, technology services, and IT exports. The project is seen as an important step toward strengthening Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and creating opportunities for local startups and businesses.

Regarding the Karachi IT Park, a letter was given to the committee that while the funds have been promoted, the project is still under review and work is underway. The committee praised the IT Ministry and its affiliated departments for providing a comprehensive briefing and complying with the recommendations, including the directive that its programs have to be extended to district level education and opportunities and technical training.
