There has been a major case of digital fraud in Punjab, where a fake web portal of the Food Department was allegedly used to facilitate the smuggling of international provincial flour, as Express News said.
Officials said the portal was used to prepare fake permits for flour transport in the provinces.
Under the government’s current system, the department is mandatory for cross -border movements, but the department has temporarily suspended such permits.
According to Express News, the alleged illegal digital portal was developed by a group of floor mills operating outside Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and nearby areas.
The fake system imitated the original website of the department, allowing smugglers to obtain fake documents for flour truck loads.
After receiving intelligence on the matter, DG Food Punjab Amjad Hafiz launched a target operation.
Several shipments carrying fake digital permits were stopped during the crackdown.
Initial investigations have revealed that the group has specifically created a portal to prepare fake inter -provincial permits and smuggle thousands of tonnes of flour.
According to preliminary results, officials stationed at several check posts were also found in the scheme.
Investigators have identified a close relative of a senior representative of the All Pakistan Flour Mills Association (APFMA) among the investigators.
After the operation, the culprits allegedly closed the fake web portal. DG Food Punjab has now directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Cyber Crime Wing to conduct a comprehensive investigation and submit a report.
Authorities believe that digital fraud could be one of the largest cyber -powered scams in the history of the food sector of Punjab, which could expose serious flaws in monitoring and controlling international Swanka transport.
