Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his delegation are underway before a visit to the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
According to a news report, this year’s delegation is significantly larger than previous years, with 40 to 50 members residing, including eight ministers and advisers.
To accommodate the delegation, a room has been registered in two advanced hotels in New York, with a daily rate of $ 1,000 with a standard room. Extra charges for family suites and meeting rooms will increase the cost. However, diplomatic staff is exempt from local taxes, which means only basic rates apply.
It is expected that the total cost of the hotel will exceed 000 300,000 (about 84 84 million rupees) for a six night stay, except for other expenses such as food and meeting facilities. More than 28 rooms have been stored in one hotel, while the other has a case of more than 20 rooms.
Prime Minister Sharif and key officials will stay in London before arriving in New York, other members of the delegation arrived on separate flights.
The large size of the delegation and the significant costs associated with the tour have given rise to criticism, especially in view of the current economic challenges of Pakistan. The Pakistani ambassador to the United Nations is ready to hold a letter on September 19, with more details about the visit.
Along with the Finance Minister, the Prime Minister will also meet with the IMF and the World Bank representatives during his stay in New York.
