In an important step that aims to provide economic relief to Gilgit -Baltistan, Federal Minister for Power Aviation Ahmed Khan Lanhani on Wednesday announced various tax exemptions on imported goods for local consumption, including Federal Levies relief, such as sales tax, and excise duty.
Talking to the media through representatives of Gilgit -Baltistan Chief Minister, Haji Gulbar Khan, and representatives of the region’s businessmen, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif thanked Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for helping GB with the chairmanship of the committee on August 17, 2025. He said that the committee finalized practical, consensus -based recommendations in just a month and a half, which has now been approved by the Prime Minister.
Legacy praised the role of the Chairman of the FBR and his team for his cooperation, adding that the entire political leadership of Gilgit -Baltistan provided meaningful cooperation in the process. He emphasized that the Prime Minister has issued a clear directive to give priority to the welfare of the people of GB in all aspects of the government.
The Minister noted that approved measures would help remove obstacles to imports, exports and transit trade, while creating a more conduct for the business community. He remarked, “This is an important addition to Pakistan’s economic history, which reflects the vision of comprehensive development.”
Legacy accepted the partnerships of senior officials, political leaders, and business representatives, including members of the Supreme Council and the GB Chamber of Commerce, who were present at the press conference. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue working with the people of Gilgit -Baltistan for their prosperity and integration in national development.
Gilgit -Baltistan Chief Minister, Haji Gulbar Khan, expressed his gratitude to the Government of Pakistan, especially Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Minister of Power, Aizaz Ahmed Khan Leghari, for the sake of supporting the long -awaited taxes for the region. He praised the federal leadership for meeting a long -standing demand for people and business community in the region.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of implementing the agreement signed in both the letter and the soul to ensure that its full benefits will be felt in Gilgit -Baltistan. “This is an important step towards empowering Gilgit -Baltistan, CM Gulbar Khan said. We urge federal authorities to ensure timely implementation of the announced measures.”
Meanwhile, Ashfaq Ahmad, president of the Gilgit -Baltistan Chamber of Commerce, called on traders to resume cross -border trade activities in the Sost Border, which began on Thursday. He expressed the hope that the taxation of taxation would restore trade pace and strengthen regional trade relations.
Senator Saleem Mandowala, a member of the committee set up by the Prime Minister to address the concerns of Gilgit -Baltistan traders, has said that the government is deeply concerned about the suspension of trade between Pakistan and China. He said the committee has worked with piety to devise a viable procedure to resume trade activities in the region.
