Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) has expressed concern over the Pakistan (DRAP) Drug Regulatory Authority to properly monitor alternative medicines, neutralists, and additional food supplements despite the courts.
Referring to the decision of the Balochistan High Court on June 27, 2024, the indicator noted that the court ordered the court to drop the court on July 22, 2024, and the Ministry of National Health Services ordered to establish registration, licensing, and pricing system within three months.
TIP highlights that about 70 70,000 products are sold without utility testing, safety checks, or GMP inspection, while 80-90 % or manufacturers have proper labs and eligible staff. Accordingly, the absence of analytical procedures is often linked to the production of fake and non -standard drugs. More than 30,000 registration applications have been pending with the DRP’s Directorate of Health and OTC since the implementation of the Drop Act 2012.
The organization called on the government to suspend new entries, conduct a nationwide GMP inspection within six months, and initiate registration process without delay, continued to warn that disabled pose a serious threat to public health.
“Citizens’ safety is at risk, and failure to comply with judicial instructions will not only be akin to humiliation, but also can cause irreparable harm to public health.”
