The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has rejected reports circulating on social and mainstream media proposal and extension in the deadline for submission of income tax declarations for the tax year 2025.
The FBR made it clear that there was no change in the deadline and would not be extended from September 30, 2025.
In an official statement, the FBR described the rumors as “false, baseless and misleading” and said that some reports have misrepresented the recent flood expansion. The tax authority said that most taxpayers live in flood -hit areas and there is enough time to fulfill their tax responsibilities.
The FBR also dismissed the claims that its IRIS online filing system was facing slowdown, which states that the platform is fully running and taxpayers can file a new easy form without difficulty.
Taxpayers were warned that the deprivation of the deadline would result in a late filer’s status and fines under the law. The FBR urged all eligible people before the deadline of September 30 to file their return correctly and honestly.
However, the FBR noted that in cases of extreme difficulties, taxpayers can apply for an extension for up to fifteen days, provided they pay any appropriate tax by September 30 and get approval from the relevant committee according to legal requirements.
