KP Govt to Outsource 1,500 Schools & 55 Colleges for Education Reform
In a significant step towards improving academic performance, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to outsource the management of 1,500 schools and 55 colleges struggling to meet educational benchmarks. Reports indicate that 500 schools from the merged districts are included in this plan, reflecting the government’s focus on areas with persistent learning gaps.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Secretary said the move is aimed at raising educational standards through professional oversight. He noted that only institutions fulfilling defined eligibility criteria will be selected for outsourcing, ensuring that resources are directed where they can make the most difference.
The decision follows a wave of concern over recent matriculation exam results, which revealed that several public schools in the province recorded extremely low pass rates, with some showing a zero percent success rate. Thousands of students were unable to clear their exams, sparking debate over teaching quality and resource management.
Officials believe that introducing external management will bring in better administrative systems, modern teaching techniques, and improved accountability. The provincial leadership hopes this reform will enhance the quality of education and lead to stronger academic outcomes in future examinations.
