As a part of shortage of teachers in government medical colleges, which has now ended up in a very serious situation, the Punjab government has decided Retired Teachers Hiring in Punjab on contract basis that would help cover some of the acute shortages in terms of teaching staffs in government medical colleges around the province.
By an official communique issued by the Health Department of Punjab, age criterion in such employment to be brought down to the age of 65 years.
The intention behind this move is to cover the faculty gaps in major medical subjects including the cardiac and the pediatrics surgery, pulmonology, oncology, cardiology, biochemistry, the field of forensic medicine, and the field of anesthesia.
The health department has also directed all 36 government medical colleges and teaching hospitals in the province to meet the recruitment of this process till June 30. The hiring will be an emergency that is targeting at least 12 departments, which are in acute shortages with major emphasis to hire to be an associate professor.
In a letter issuing in the spheres of medical institutions of the public sector, it was indicated that such appointments are temporary and will terminate automatically at the time of recruiting normal employees using normal procedures.
