Punjab Enforces Summer Vacation Extension Till Sept 1
The Punjab government has issued a firm directive to all public and private schools, warning them to strictly follow the province-wide summer vacation extension until September 1.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that the extended holiday schedule applies uniformly to every institution, with zero tolerance for any violations. The community members and parents have been requested to complain against such schools who open their institutions before the given date to the educational helpline of the province at +92 316 0261408.

The minister explained that the summer vacation extension was introduced to protect students from the ongoing heatwave, adding that the decision is final and aimed at safeguarding children’s health.
However, the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association has strongly opposed the move, calling it unnecessary and damaging to students’ academic growth. The association pointed out that schools in Islamabad and other provinces have already reopened, arguing that keeping Punjab’s students away from classrooms for nearly three months will harm academic progress and affect board exam preparation.
To address these concerns, the association proposed a phased reopening plan or allowing board classes to resume earlier under strict health guidelines, ensuring that the impact of the summer vacation extension on learning loss remains minimal.
