Punjab Reopens SIS Portal for Marriage-Based Transfers
Thousands of school teachers across Punjab have received welcome news as the Punjab Education Department has announced the reopening of the SIS portal for marriage-based transfers starting August 10.
According to the updated policy, the department will only entertain the wedlock transfer option during this phase, simplifying the process for teachers who wish to relocate due to marital commitments. This initiative applies even if the spouse is not employed in the government sector, broadening the eligibility criteria for applicants.
The decision comes after a one-and-a-half-month pause in marriage-based transfers due to ongoing rationalization measures. With the restriction now lifted, teachers will once again have the flexibility to apply for transfers that align with their personal and family needs.
Officials highlighted that the Education Department’s goal is to ensure year-round opportunities for teacher transfers, allowing educators to manage their postings more effectively. Teachers have been told to log in to SIS portal immediately after 10 August to avoid delays in completion of their marriage-based transfers applications.
This policy change is expected to benefit a significant number of teachers, providing them with both professional stability and personal convenience.
